Senator Ted Cruz has expressed strong concerns regarding what he perceives as the misuse of taxpayer funds by the National Science Foundation (NSF). He claims that under the Biden-Harris administration, over $2.05 billion has been allocated to research projects that Cruz argues promote neo-Marxist ideologies and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles. According to Cruz, one in four NSF grants now supports left-wing ideological agendas disguised as academic research, citing specific projects aimed at creating an “intersectional learning ecosystem” in AI education and initiatives focused on “decolonizing” various academic disciplines.
